The models in the above named ranges are all hand made in our very own workshop using original ship plans sourced from an array of Maritime Museums. Our model ships have had the benefit of over 12 years of product research and modifications to improve their quality based on client comments and feedback.
The construction of the scale models is done using “plank-on-frame” method of model making. When the model ships leave our workshop they are completed products and do not require our customers to assemble any parts on them.
The only exceptions are some model boats in our silver range, where the masts and sails on the model sailing yachts are flat packed and only require very basic assembly following comprehensive instructions.
On the wooden ships, we use various types of wood in our workshop ranging from teak – which is by far the most common wood used on the model ships, to cypress wood and pear wood. The larger models of sailing yachts and models of modern yachts, to name a few, are made of fibre glass. We also have specific client requirements on the wood to use.

-
The Client provides pictures of their boat or yacht, together with the size of the model that they require. Digital pictures would be ideal.
- A quote will be submitted to the client, together with size and options on their model yachts.
- The quote is agreed with the client. We will then request as many pictures as possible, along with plans or technical drawings. If pictures or plans are not available, we will undertake the research at a cost.
- The lead times for producing custom model boats can be up to 16 weeks.
- We prepare a Model Maker's Brief (MMB) for both parties to sign off. This outlines the scope of the work, and provides peace of mind to our clients.
- The Client's model boat(s) goes into production. Pictures are provided during the construction of the model at the client request, together with final professional pictures.
