Premier Ship Models Company Information

Premier Ship Models trades both through the internet and at shows.

The company started trading in 2000, with the first web site launched in 2001. This makes us one of the longest running specialist ship model company, and is evidenced by the amount of customer references.

We are based in the UK, and a registered limited company (registration number 4208528). Additionally, we are VAT registered (registration number is 01305396).

We are also members of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and the British Marine Federation (BMF).

How does the ordering process work?

Online orders - the web site will calculate the total value of your order.

Telephone and email enquiries - We provide you with a quote (on the telephone or by email). Once you confirm the quote, we raise an invoice which is sent to you (usually by email), and process your order.

Do you have a price lists?

We now have over 350 ship models on our web site. Please click here to request a price list of all our model ships. Our price list is broken down by price, quality range, type, length and name of ship models.

Do you offer a price match?

Our price guarantee is that we will match and beat our competitor prices by 5% for models of the same quality. Please click here to put us to the test.

Are the ship models fully completed?

Model ships and boats in our Silver, Gold, Platinum and Custom Range are hand crafted, scratch built and ready made. Absolutely nothing to do, except to remove from their boxes! A few of the ship models in the Silver Range are flat packed, and are marked as such in the model ship description.

Do you offer Model boat kits and R/c model boats?

Yes we do - we have about 100 model boat kits from different manufacturers. We also supply r/c model boats.

We can also build your model ship from your own model ship kit. We found a large number of customers who does not (for a variety of reasons) complete their ship model kits. This is also possible for partially completed model ship kits. We provide you with pictures of the ship model throughout the building process.

How are the ship models built?

The Gold, Platinum and Custom range of ship models are hand-made using plank on frame construction. As far as possible, we use the original plans and drawings, depending on the level of information available from our maritime sources.

Over the next 3 months, we will be loading a section with pictures explaining the ship model building process in detail.

Which countries to you deliver to?

In the last 5 years, we have despatched our model ships to all continents, including North America (USA and Canada), South America, Europe (New and Old), Middle East, Australasia (New Zealand and Canada), Far East (Hong Kong, Taiwan, China etc) and the Carribbean.

Custom built ship models?

To complement our Premier Service, we offer our clients the opportunity to have their own unique ship models i.e. 'Custom Built'. In order to deliver a high quality professional ship model, we require ship plans, drawings and / or detailed pictures of the ship, boat or yacht to be built.

Initial pictures are usually sufficient to provide a quote. Please contact us for an outline of the custom build process, including our unique Customer Specification Document (CSD).

Whilst the ship models are made, we will keep you updated on progress, and if required provide you with pictures. Typically the duration between receiving your plan and delivery is 12-16 weeks.

Please note: 50% deposit is required for 'Custom Built' ship models.

Restoration of damaged models

We now offer this service due to the high volume of clients requesting restoration work on damaged ship models. Please click here to view some examples of recent restoration work.

Which type of wood is use for your ship models?

We mainly use teak and sapele wood on our model boats. Other types of wood are used, (e.g. Meranti on painted models, oak etc), and on very large ships, we may use fibreglass. You have a choice as to the type of wood / material that we use, so please let us know if you have a specific request.

The accessories are made of copper bath and bronze.

What do the display cases look like?

We now have a dedicate page on display cases for your model ships.

Please note we can supply custom built display cases for clients who already have a ship model.

Packing, insurance and delivery?

Our ship models are individually framed and packed, and delivered to your door by our couriers:

UK: Business Post, Hand Made Delivery and Royal Mail (Registered Post)

Non-UK and Overseas: FedEx.

All model ships are fully insured during transportation.

All the ship models are pre-packed to the highest standards. We extensively ship packages and have the technique to ensure the models reach it's destination safe and sound. A picture of the inside of the case is shown below.

Can the item be delivered today?

If the ship model is in stock, the model is delivered within a week. If the order is not in stock, the delivery time is between 8-12 weeks. UK customers have the option of picking up their models on the same day as their order.

Payment terms?

The terms are as follows: 50% on order and the balance prior to delivery of the model. The vat amount is payable in full.

Which credit cards do you accept?

Master Card, Switch, Visa, Visa Delta, Visa Electron, Visa Purchasing, Solo and JCB, but not AMEX.

We are happy to take your order over the phone, on the Web or by post using the above credit cards.

The billing address provided must match the credit card statement, this is due to increased credit card security procedures.

All orders must include both a daytime telephone number and a shipping address. Please note that for your own security, all deliveries must be signed.

For security purposes, we reserve the right to request back-up documentation, such as a credit card copy, driving licence or other suitable means of identification. These can be sent by post, faxed or emailed.

Is it safe to pay with my credit card?

Yes. All our online transactions are done using a stronghold secure server with SSL technology.

SSL stands for ‘Secure Socket Layers’ meaning all your credit card details are transferred from our Website direct to us in an encrypted (unreadable) form. Your details are only decoded (made readable again) once they reach us and not before.

How do I know your order form is secure?

This is easy. To determine whether you are on a secure page in Netscape 3.0 – look to see if the gold key in the lower left corner of the browser is connected and the blue background is highlighted. In Netscape 4.0 and Internet Explorer – you will see a padlock icon in the lower left (Netscape 4.0) and right (Explorer) corners. If the locked padlock is visible you are on a secure page.
