Specification of the model:
The
present model is an exact copy of the ship in a scale 1:60 and is made by hand
from authentic materials: walnut
pear-wood, metal, cotton the decoration parts are carved from boxwood and
covered with golden paint.
The model consists of several thousands of details.
For example, every gun is made of
about
90 parts. Over the gun-barrels are engraved the crown and the eagle emblem of Brandenburg.
For
making the model were necessary 3,000 hours of handwork!
History of the ship
The
"Grosse Jacht" was also called "Neue Jacht" or
"Vergoldete Jacht".
It was
built in 1678-1679 by G. C. Pechelhering in the town of Kolberg.
He
took as a prototype the yacht of the prince William III of Orange.
The "Grosse Jacht" was
possessed by the governor of Brandenburg Friedrich Wilchelm and was used for
diplomatic missions to London.
