This fantastic Hunton XRS 37 model was based off of the wonderful real-life equivalent, a sleek and expertly engineered deep-V hull yacht, renowned for its superior stability and exhilarating handling at sea. Constructed with a meticulously hand-laid biaxial E-glass and Kevlar hull, it combines durability with a lightweight design, further enhanced by balsa coring to optimise strength without unnecessary bulk.
Our model equivalent measured in at 140 centimetres, and was to be finished in a striking red and black paint scheme. It was mounted on a bespoke base, and was largely 3D printed using ABS, resin, acrylic and timber.
This project was completed for a private international client.
They were thoroughly pleased with their custom model of the Hunton XRS 37, praising its precision craftsmanship and attention to detail. From the sleek, aerodynamic lines to the meticulously replicated features, the model perfectly captured the essence of this high-performance powerboat.
The model was meticulously crafted using a combination of wood, acrylic, and fibreglass, with polished chrome accents adding to its refined aesthetic. Measuring 39 inches in length, it exemplifies outstanding craftsmanship and intricate detailing, though it does not feature any moving parts or internal mechanisms.
While CNC technology was utilised for finer components such as the windscreen, railings, helm controls, and seating, the majority of the construction was completed by hand, ensuring a truly bespoke finish.
The project was estimated to take around one month from start to finish. Payment was structured in two instalments: an initial 60% deposit to commence work, with the remaining 40% due upon completion. The final cost also included a custom-built wooden packing case, specifically designed to protect the model during transit and ensure its safe arrival.
The custom-built Hunton XRS 37 model was predominantly handcrafted using timber, fibreglass, acrylic, and chrome accents, demonstrating remarkable craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.
Before construction commenced, every aspect was carefully discussed and agreed upon with the client. This included precise dimensions, design elements, aesthetic preferences, payment structure, and the project timeline. By establishing clear expectations from the outset, the process remained transparent and minimised any risk of miscommunication.
The build began with the hull, the structural foundation of the model. This stage required exact measurements and precise assembly to ensure an accurate representation of the original vessel. Once the hull was completed, attention turned to the upper deck, where slender wooden planks were carefully fitted along the sides, gradually covering the internal framework. Structural supports for the helm were then installed.
The painting stage followed, with particular care given to achieving a flawless finish. The hull was coated in a bold racing red, accented with sleek black stripes and Cheetah decals to enhance authenticity.
In the final phase, the model underwent thorough cleaning and polishing. The windscreen was refined, railings were buffed to a high shine, and the motors were aligned and polished for a crisp finish. To complete the piece, the model was mounted on a handcrafted wooden base, creating a sophisticated and professional display.
Delivered securely and on schedule, the Hunton XRS 37 model arrived in immaculate condition, ready for display. The client expressed particular appreciation for the model’s refined finish and faithful representation of the original yacht’s dynamic design, making it a standout addition to their collection.
