Subsea 7 is a world-leading seabed-to-surface engineering, construction and services contractor to the offshore energy industry. The company operates globally and has a focused ethic based on supporting subsea engineering and promoting rapid technological growth within this area. They have previously partnered and continue to work with some of the biggest names in the oil and gas industry.
The company was in the process of relocating their main offices in the UK. Based in Sutton, Surrey, they were moving to a larger office and planned to display five models of their flagships in display cases. The cases were to be made from acrylic, which would sit on a wooden plinth with a metal stand finished to a chrome effect. The client supplied a CAD drawing and was fairly specific about their requirements. As well as manufacturing and installing the display cases, the models also needed cleaning and a few parts had to be repaired.
After receiving the CAD design of the display cases and a confirmation of the customer’s requirements we started with a site visit to measure the models. As this was an end to end display project the manufacturing process would be shared across four workshops. The wooden plinth was made using hardwoods and painted as per Subsea 7’s requirements. The metal stands were fabricated to be able to support the wooden plinth and acrylic topper, which was cut and fusion bonded to ensure a clean edge and secure case.
We successfully managed the project to deliver all five cases, stands and plinths to the offices of Subsea 7 on the same day. Lead model maker Kaloyan oversaw the installation and cleaned / repaired the models on the same day as well, offering an inclusive end-to-end service for the client.
“ Can I thank you for you on a job well done, I hope it didn’t take too long. They look really great. Also, thank you for the card and chocolates. It was a lovely gesture. “
